Application Process

Applying for Admission to Providence St. Mel School is EASY AS 1-2-3!

PART 1:  Application Packet and Benchmark Review

Parents and Students must complete all sections of the PSM Application and submit with (1) prior year grade report (2) prior year standardized test scores (3) certified copy of birth certificate

Requirements - Checklist

  • Providence St. Mel Admissions Application
  • A copy of prior year report card and current year progress report
  • A copy of prior year standardized test scores (National Percentiles or standardized scores from Iowa, Terra Nova, California Achievement, or ISAT, Explore, Plan, ACT)
  • Certified copy of Birth Certificate for all students

PART 2:   Writing Component and Student Interview

All students and parents must attend an Application / Pre- Registration date (formerly known as PSM Testing) and students must complete a Writing Assessment.  After receipt of the Admissions Application and prior year scholastic review, Providence St. Mel will schedule an interview for all applicants.  Writing Assessments and Interviews may be conducted concurrently on the PSM Application date.  All remaining documents must be submitted prior to Fall 2013 Registration.

  • Attend PSM Application Day (formerly known as PSM Test Day)
  • Writing Component (LS,MS,HS)
  • Developmental Checklist / Assessment (Pre-S, Pre-K, KDG)
  • Two Recommendation Forms for MS and HS Applicants:
  •   a)   One from prior year teacher in Reading, Lang Arts, English or Math
  •   b)   One from Counselor,  Dean of Students or Principal      Student Summary Attendance & Discipline Form (LS,  MS, HS)
  • Student Statement (MS and HS)
  • Parent / Guardian Statement (LS, MS, HS)

PART 3: Financial Assistance Process (Optional)

Providence St. Mel offers a college preparatory opportunity at a fraction of the educational cost per student. The PSM cost to educate is underwritten by donor, corporate, and foundation support at an average of 65%. In order to receive the underwritten contribution from donors, families must disclose household financial profile by completing the PSM Financial Assistance Process. Remaining parent contribution of tuition may be further offset by financial aid and scholarships. Families who opt out of the financial aid process will be subject to the full tuition cost for the 2013 – 2014 school year.
